Keith Olbermann Out at MSNBC
An interesting story, especially considering that the Comcast takeover of NBC properties is only a few days on. Keith Olbermann, an 8PM fixture of MSNBC suddenly annouces on Friday that this is his last show on the network. Now, he has come and gone before, but for the last 7 or 8 years, he has been the 8PM fixture, getting good ratings and seemingly solid in the position. Plenty of speculation here, from Comcast not liking him much to his campaign donations getting in the way, but at this point it isn’t clear. What is clear is that the network did allow him to have a reasonable time to say goodbye to his fans, which indicates perhaps that this wasn’t a move in anger, but rather something both sides agreed to.
