Blagojevich Guilty on 17 out of 20 Counts of Corruption
Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has been found guilty on 17 of the 20 counts related to corruption that he has faced in court for many years. Much of this stems from attempts from Bloagojevich to profit from the open Senate position that came about when then Senator Obama was elected President. The FBI was said to have wiretaps that showed what was going on. PLenty of stories, from MSNBC here, Forbes here, The Washington Post, AP video via Youtube, and local Chicago station KWQC here.
Actor Peter Falk Dead at 83 RIP
Filed under: celebrities, Hollywood Reporter, New York Times, RIP
While there is never any joy when someone passes away, it is sometimes considered to be for the better. Actor Peter Falk passed away last night at the age of 83, which is very sad. However, he had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and his only real contact with the public in the last few years had been a very sad case a few years ago where he was very confused in public. His career was long and varied, as reported here in the New York Times, but it is TV role as the detective Columbo that really defined him, for better or worse. His rumpled rain coat, old car driving detective was loved by many, and in later years he often ended up playing the same sort of character. Good stories from Bloomberg, Entertainment Weekly, and The Hollywood Reporter here. RIP Peter Falk, 1927-2011.
