Will Sarah Palin Run in 2012?

While there have been a couple of Presidential bid announcements made in the last couple of weeks, but most of the speculation is around the non-announcements from Sarah Palin. Recently she said she had the “fire in her belly“, and was also rumored to have purchased property in Arizona where her campaign would be run out of. Sarah Palin has been considered a spiritual leader for the Tea Party movement, well known Republican figures like Karl Rove wonder if she is good for the party. Certainly her being a candidate would add some spice to what seems to otherwise be a dull 2012 campaign.

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Arizona Anti-Illegal Hiring Laws

This could certainly be the start of a significant story, and the end perhaps of one step in the debate on illegal aliens in the US. in 2007, Arizona passed a law that required all licensed businesses in the state to confirm employees were legal to work in the US. Civil rights and other groups protested, saying that immigration is a Federal and not State area of control. But the Supreme Court, lead by conservative Justice John Roberts, agreed with the state, as they felt they had followed the Federal guidelines well and crafted a law that is acceptable. Plenty of coverage here, from the LA Times (who call the law a “death penalty” for buisnesses that hire illegal aliens), story from CNN, and a sort of op-ed piece form All Voices here. Many more people are waiting to see how this plays with Arizona’s get tough on illegals laws which allow police broad powers to stop suspected illegal aliens.
