Norway Reeling In Mass Killing and Bombing Aftermath

This is one of those stories that collectively we will talk about for a long time. The Mirror has a great article on how these attacks are similar to the Oklahoma City bombings, and how they will potentially effect Norway going forward. Al Jazeera is running this piece which comes out against the attacks,but also seems to be trying to use it to diffuse the terrorist links. The First Post has an article with six things we know about the killer, Anders Behring Breivik. There are some stories kicking around that suggest more people have been arrested related to this event, but they all appear to be second hand and hard to track. Reuters has an interesting and disturbing look at the killer’s manifesto.
News Corp Woes Continue
The News Corp story just won’t go away. What started with a phone hacking allegation at News Of The World has turned into a widespread attack on News Corp from many directions. Today’s biggest news is that News Corp will no longer attempt to acquire the 61% of BSkyB that they don’t already own (stories: New York Times, CNN, BBC News, Wall Street Journal). There are also some asking questions about News Corp in general, and perhaps that the future of Rupert Murdoch himself may be written and nearly over. The Guardian has an interesting article looking into the future, as does Al Arabiya (from their London Bureau). This is certainly a story that will not go away soon.
